im getting this critical error when i try open the game

Thing you can / should try (in this order):

 

- Try running the game in windowed mode.

Open option.ini (located in your system folder) and find:

StartupFullScreen=True

Change this to:

StartupFullScreen=False

- Delete Your Option.ini file and then run client again.

- Make sure to install latest version of directx: microsoft.com

- If you have a laptop/desktop with Nividia optimus technology try running l2.exe on the integrated graphics.

I used the same client and it worked on your closed beta server (some months ago) but with this system is not working;
I already tried to change to full screen/window mode.

And the game doesn't recreate the options.ini.

+1, I guess thats because we cant even get the client opened so its not saving them.

 

 

Anyway, as I said before, with the same client I had no problems in logging into your closed beta some time ago

Nope, but for some reason i don't think the game reads the option.ini, i just think it crashes before because i tried editing some lines, played with multiple resolution lines and still the same shit.

Darkdancers' issue is solved. He has a laptop with Nvidia Optimus Technology (basically an Intel videocard and an nvidia video card in one system) this technology lets you switch between these cards for better performance/longer battery life).

 

Switching Linage II to intel graphics fixed the issue. Problem caused due to driver issue with Unreal engine/D3D. There is probably a driver update out there that fixes this problem however.

Tried to modify/delete Option.ini, same result. Only one cart in computer (desktop). Latest driver.

Yeah, that's weird because unmodified client starts ok...

 

I tried:

 

Installing the latest beta drivers

Installing some old drivers(~2 months)

Installing the game on other drive

Playing with options.ini

 

Nothing worked.

So i tried to replace the .dll from the citadel patch with the original ones and then replace the original ones with the citadel ones but one by one and when i replaced NWindow.dll, the crashin appears...dunno if it makes sense :), does that dll have an impact?

I cannot start the client using win7 x64.

 

If i run l2.exe without citadel patch client starts fine.

 

I don't use any dual card im using dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT.

 

Deleting option.ini or downloading one from this topic also didn't work for me.

 

I have installed

- latest directx_Jun2010_redist.exe.

- L2 CT1 Hellbound Live

- L2Citadel Patch v1a2 to 

 

F:\system\L2.exe >
